Situationen i Palestina ser inte ut att förändras till det bättre.
Den tillfälliga vapenvila som utlösts kommer förmodligen inte hålla länge
Tony Blair har nu givit sitt fulla stöd till Mahmoud Abbas och al Fatah samt till Abbas' beslut att företaga ett omval.
Om detta omval leder till att Hamas än en gång vinner en seger över Fatah, tror en del bedömare att det kan leda till att Palestina utvecklas till en mer islamistisk stat med Sharialagar och det skrämmer många i väst och kanske också en del i Palestina samt Israel.
Vinner däremot Fatah kommer självfallet Hamas inte lägga sig 'platt fall' och erkänna sig besegrade utan att på något sätt manifestera sitt missnöje och då kanske de mer våldsamma falangerna inom Hamas får överhanden igen.
Även inom Fatah har vi de som förordar mer våldsamma tillvägagångssätt som vi sett av milisens agerande de senaste dagarna.
Att Tony Blair på detta sätt entydigt tar parti för en part i konflikten kan knappast leda till att gjuta olja på vågorna i detta upprörda innanhav.
Istället borde hans kritik ha varit mer diversifierad och också inriktat sig på det ansvar som Israel kan anses ha för den situation som råder samt ställt högre krav på sistnämnda nation i sitt agerande gentemot vissa länder i regionen.
Tyvärr ser det mer och mer ut som om Palestina går mot ett inbördeskrig och det i kombination med annan oro i Mellanöstern ser ut att leda till en långt mer explosiv situation än vi sett på många år.

The situation in Palestine has not improved the last few days. The cease-fire proclaimed by Hamas and Fatah is not solid and disturbances can occur again, very soon.
Tony Blair have met with Mahmoud Abbas and given his full support to him and Fatah and Blair also gave his support to the decision by Abbas to perform a re-election.
If this re-election ends with Hamas victory once again, some people in the West and maybe in Palestine and Israel as well, are afraid that Palestine will develop into a more islamistic state with 'Sharia-laws'.
If Fatah prevails, Hamas is most probably not going to surrender the power without fight. Commentators fear that in this case the more militant groups within Hamas will assume power within the organization.
Also within Fatah we have more militant groups who are able to strenghten their power at the expense of the more moderate wing.
That Tony Blair in this obvious way supports one of the fractions or parties in Palestine is of course not the best way to restore peace and calm. He should instead have been more diversified in his criticism towards both sides and also talked more about the role Israel is playing in this 'scenario' and maybe criticized them somewhat more than he did, if at all he did.
Unfortunately it more and more looks as if Palestine is facing a civil war and with all the turbulens and insecurity in the region, this is maybe one of the most explosive times in the history of the Middle East.
