George et Fanchette episode 2

I have written about this tv-serie before and this was the second and final episode depicting the story about Franchette (a person whom George Sand has written a book about) and how she gradually becomes a part of George Sand's family, though initially being a 'servant'.
We also get to see all the characters surronding Sand, like Frédéric Chopin, Alexandre Manceau (the engraver), Gustave Papet (her favourite doctor and a great help to Chopin, both sick but also being somewhat of a hypocondric), Eugène Delacroix and others.
It's a well produced and well staged story. The question is who Fanchette really was, it's not totally clear, at least not in my mind.

These photos (above and below) depict the different characters in a TV-series about Vidocq, a former convict who has become a detective. We are situated in Paris during the 19th century and Vidocq has actually existed.

He lived between 1775 and 1857 and had been a criminal and criminalist but he also became the founder and first director of the crime-fighting organisation Sûreté Nationale (National Security) and the head of the first known private detective agency. He is regarded as the "father of criminology".

His former friends among the criminals look upon him somewhat as a traitor and the official police and other authorities doesn't trust him at all - at first.
He gathers around him some colourful people, with different backgrounds and skills and on these photos you can see some of them.

In the above photo raising their glasses we see (from left to right):

Vidocq, Dolores, Marcelin, Dominique Le Corse and La Colère. Associated with them is the man in the middle below (between Marcelin and La Colère): Larousse, an inventor, being imprisoned but with a lot of privileges granted to him.

In this episode the daughter of a well-known banker is kidnapped and the police is to some extent corrupt whereby Vidocq starts his own investigation, at the same time founding his agency.
Of course he succeeds where the police fails and on the way he falls in love with a nun, get shot at by a mysterious female serial killer who wants to take his life, the bullit hitting the nun instead of him.

Well produced and quite an interesting series with classical suspense and adventure.

George et Fanchette

...directed by Jean-Daniel Verhaeghe is a TV-film we started looking at (first episode) telling the story about the author George Sand (Ariane Ascaride) and how she took care of a young woman - Fanchette (Anaïs Demoustier) - who is analphabetic.
Fanchette works in the house of Sand at Nohant and it's through this circumstance that Sand becomes aware of her inability to read and write.

For an author like Sand where every word is precious and where she coudln't live without writing, this is of course worse than if Fanchette had been struck by a disease!
Through hard work she tries to bring her into the world of letters and sentences.

At the same time we get to meet the daughter of George Sand - Solange (Françoise Gillard) - and also the son - Maurice (Raphaël Personnaz) and of course Frédéric Chopin (Fabrice Pruvost).
In this series one displays the conflicts between George Sand and her daughter. George Sand could be very harsch against Solange and it's known that she prefered Maurice but on the other hand, a mother preferring her son(s) is not to uncommon.
Solange - on the other hand - is somewhat spoiled although one also can understand the frustration she endures when asking favours from her mother, answered with a 'no' and at the same time seeing how her mother supports 'the whole artistic world', almost.

The acting is good and Anaïs Demoustier has also acted in Les grandes personnes, (among other films) the film Aurore was engaged in as a production assistant and we both worked with the translation of the script.

For the local population in La Châtre and Berry this story is of course the more interesting as this really is the 'George Sand-site' number one in the world.

Henry Rollins talk show

Svenska (English below):

English:

Henry Rollins (Henry Rollins.com) has his own talk show and from the second of March Swedish television is going to broadcast some of them.
As his first guest we will see the director Oliver Stone and later on he has also invited the artist Chuck D and director Werner Herzog.
Could become interesting.

For those of you who are not familiar with Rollins he has among other things been a singer in the punk band Black Flag.
He has influenced a lot of musicians and artists and he is a good friend and former 'mentor' for The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
He is also an actor (IMDb).
Opposite many of his colleagues in the rock and roll world he leads a somewhat different life.
He is a vegetarian and he doesn't drink alcohol, he train out physically every day and he writes poetry.
A rare combination or am I only being prejudicious?
